Japanese Iris

Japanese Iris are rugged plants that can be grown anywhere in the garden, including the water garden (keep rhizomes just above the water level).   The flat, open flowers can often be up to 8" across with up to 3 buds per stem.  They prefer moist conditions and you should avoid high heat and dryness.  You can easily divide the rhizomes in the spring and replant!

Planting & Fertilizing
It is extremely important to make sure there is good drainage where you plant your bulbs and that you fertilize the bulbs 3 times with a well-balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer.  Fertilize once when planting, once when they just come above the surface and once right after flowering.
