Guidelines for Planting and Preparing Your Gardens This Spring
Below is a LATE SPRING checklist for planning your flower garden and landscape in general...keep in mind that 'Late Spring' is relative to the area in which you live which can range from late May / early June in the South to mid June in the North.

Things To Do in Late Spring:

  • Plant the water garden
  • Prune forsythias
  • Plant shrubs in containers
  • Plant herbaceous plants
  • Sow hardy annuals
  • Plant summer bulbs
  • Mow the lawn regularly
  • Plant sweet peas from pots planted earlier into the garden
  • Harden off tender plants from the greenhouse before planting outside as you may otherwise lose some due to extreme conditions (heat, cold, wind, dry).
  • Plant a wall basket

Garden PHOTO Contest (How to Enter)
Our photo contest winner for June 2005 is Carolyn Sheridan from Gadsden, Alabama who sent us a photo of her gorgeous Clematis.

Click here to see her photo.  By the way, Carolyn wins a $20.00 gift certificate redeemable for any items in our catalogs...you can too...just send in your photos today!

We really have enjoyed getting your pictures for our contest and they continue to be eligible for each month's drawing ...we are looking forward to seeing more wonderful photos of your gardens this year!

Touch of Nature's Gardening Tip
Keep making notes in your gardening journal about things that are coming up that may need divided or moved for next Spring.  A lot can happen under the ground during a year and some items may start to creep into the territory of other plants.

We hope that some of these items will find a home in your garden, on your patio, on your balcony or in your home.  You can rest assured that your order will have our fullest attention and we know that you will be pleased with the quality results.

Have a Wonderful Day and Happy Gardening!
